Serving Young People

Our Purpose

We exist to support working together between youth award providers, to recognise the amazing things that young people learn, do and achieve in Scotland.

About The Awards Network

Our Vision

All young people in Scotland have fair access to amazing experiences and gain youth awards that recognise their skills, qualities and talents.

Non-formal-learning has parity of esteem with formal learning qualifications.

Awards providers continue to develop and advance their development of youth awards and can provide local and national evidence of the reach and value of youth engagement in non-formal learning.

Since 2008 youth awards providers have collaborated to develop some of the most amazing learning opportunities avilable for young people in Scotland. These opportunities are often life changing and go beyond traditional subjects and exams.

The network has three main areas of work:

  • To bring awards providers together as a strong collaborative network.
  • To widen access to youth awards through non-formal learning.
  • To deepen the integration, influence and impact of youth awards into mainstream education and beyond.

Awards Aware

Part of our work supports youth and community based organisations and schools to be aware of youth awards and all of their benefits. This includes knowing how best to use them at different ages and stages on the learning journey. How to make sure young people are engaging in positive and enriching experiences with the support of good adults. Choosing the right award to suit different young people's needs and tailoring the process to be as inclusive as possible.
